WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

A Life of Miracles

Of course, we believe in the Holy Spirit. But who is He?

Was Harvard professor Harvey Cox a visionary when he wrote in his 1965 book “The Secular City” that the world’s culture was on the verge of becoming secular and that cities of the world would be lost to Christianity? Thirty years later he wrote another book entitled “Fire from Heaven: The Rise of Pentecostal Spirituality and the Reshaping of Religion in the 21st Century” in which he recanted his previous position.

Pentecostalism in all its forms and brands has continued to influence the world since that eventful Day of Pentecost in Acts 2.  A key signature of this is, of course, the baptism in the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues!

The Holy Spirit is ready to empower you for the life of miracles referred to in Lesson 1.

Test Yourself

In the 60's an author named Harvey Cox predicted that Christianity was a dying religion and would cease to exist in the 21st Century. What changed his mind?

Answer

Pentecostalism: The rise of Spirit-led charismatic movements across the world changed the face of the contemporary church and reengaged with humanity in a revolutionary way.

I would say that everyday I try and listen to the Holy Spirit. Sometimes it can be the little things like when I am letting my mind wander, I feel like I can hear God telling me to focus. Its kind of intuitive. There are other times where my mind wonders and I am not taking ungodly thoughts captive, the conviction becomes stronger. I am grateful for God’s conviction and correction in my heart. Reading the Bible also helps me hear the Holy Spirit more clearly. It is like God glosses over his word and highlights things that I am meant to read and also hear. I feel like sometimes I take that for granted and I confess.

I find the more I study His word and meditate on it His voice becomes clearer and more noticeable. Not just in the big things of life but the smaller and more intimate areas of life. Another thing that I have learned when it comes His voice we need to believe or have faith that He’s actually wanting to talk to us

Actually, i have learned to listen inwardly to the voice of the Holy Spirit, severally, incidentally i’m yet to receive the gift, which i prayerfully hope for.

I strongly pray for the gift of the Holy Spirit because it empowers, leads, directs, anointed children of God.
