The Doctrine of Salvation

- In your understanding, is there anything that distinguishes a Pentecostal soteriology from that of mainstream evangelicalism? Do you find that Pentecostalism emphasizes the individual or communal aspect of salvation more consistently?
- Were you familiar with the terms “Calvinist” and “Arminian” prior to listening to this lecture? Which do you believe is a better fit within the broader framework of Pentecostal theology, and why?

From what I understand thus far, there does not seem to be much of a difference between mainstream Evangelist and Pentecostal soteriology. They both share a common goal and carry out similar actions in order to achieve that goal. The communal aspect of Christianity is also very prevalent amongst both groups.
I personally was not familiar with the terms Arminian or Calvinist before this course, at least not really. I had heard people talk about Calvinism but never in detail. I definitely think that Arminian better describes Pentecostalism because it is very clear in its view that Jesus died for all and that salvation is available to us all, which aligns very closely with the Pentecostal emphasis on evangelism, but also I think, with its emphasis on diversity and inclusion. To me, Calvinist soteriology seems to be more exclusionary than inclusionary.
