If you find you are a head person, answer the first questions. If you are a heart person, answer the second questions.

    1. If you are a head person, what has been your experience (either this week or previous experience) as you have tried to explore, express, and re-orient your emotions to God? What makes it difficult for you? What has helped you to do so? Have you tried praying the Psalms?
    2. If you are a heart person, have you experienced your emotions lead you away from faith, hope, and love, and/or lead you into confusion about reality? As you have tried to explore, express, and re-orient your emotions to God, what has made it difficult for you? What has helped you to do so? Have you tried praying the Psalms?

For most of my life I would have considered myself a heart person, very emotional and sensitive. In the beginning I trusted everyone and as I began to experience the ways of the world i became very wounded by individuals that did not have my best interests at heart. I experienced much pain, lost trust and used drugs to cover up and mask the pain that was inflicted. I began to live in a fantasy world that had a very distorted reality until Jesus got a hold of me and transformed my life. however the healing of that very hurt person has been a process. Once the fog lifted from my head and I began to deal with the pain of the bruised and broken heart and Gods healing has transformed my life by showing me, through His grace and mercy, how very much he loved me and wanted a personal and intimate relationship with me. He has done this by placing me in the right community with spiritually mature people who have loved me, prayed for me, helped direct my path and hold me accountable when needed.

@Martyv so encouraging. I think from observing your comments on ECO that you are developing a good balance of head and heart in your life. Just my observations after interacting with you for the last few months.

I’m going to have to sit with this lesson for awhile. At the opening question, I said totally a heart person. Many who know me would say I wear my heart on my sleeve, and they would agree…heart person. But as I went through this lesson I began to realize that I can be both. When I’m really hurt, I tend to be more of a head person. I refuse to acknowledge the emotions, just push past it and don’t deal with it.
