3.1 What Is My Spiritual Story?
After taking time to pray through and map out your Spiritual Story, respond to ONE of the following prompts in paragraph form (do not feel pressure to share anything beyond your comfort zone!):
- Did you find God most clearly at work through your story revealing his Goodness, his Presence in Difficult Times, or his Redemption? Why do you think that is the place God is standing out to you most at this time of your life? Was there anything surprising about this?
- If God revealed himself in his Goodness, how did you find yourself responding to him? If He revealed His Presence in difficult times, did you find yourself growing in trust of God?

To begin with this has been one of the most difficult exercises I have done in a very long time and would have to say that I found God most clearly at work revealing his presence to me in the Difficult times. I did not begin to develop my relationship with Him until my early 40s and up to that period I lived a fairly rough life. I did not grow up in a Christian home and did not have relationships in my life that modeled Gods goodness to me until I dedicated my life to him. As I was going through my Spiritual story, decade by decade, he began to reveal to me all the times he was present in the turmoil and the rebellion of my life. While going through it I most certainly did not see him at work in my life but upon much reflection it has become clear all the times he rescued and protected me from myself and the enemy. I did not deserve the mercy and grace he extended to me during those times and I could never repay him but I am thankful and acknowledge that his plan was the best plan I am totally humbled by the fact that He never gave up on me and truly wish I had of recognized his presence in my life as the craziness began in my early teen years. However he had a plan and he has taken my mess and made a message. Nothing I went throw has been wasted and has been used for his glory and I thank him on a daily basis.

@Martyv it is so encouraging to read this. Your story reminds me a bit of the Footprints poem that lots of grandmas have hanging on their bathroom walls. It also reminds me of the following quote from Soren Kierkegaard: “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.”
