Course Objectives:

Primary Learning Outcomes – After completing this course you will…

  • be able to define what critical thinking means.
  • become familiar with principles/habits that sharpen critical thinking skills.
  • learn how to find and evaluate research sources that reinforce critical thinking skills.

Head (Cognitive) – After completing this course you will…

  • understand the basic theological tenets of Christian theology.
  • articulate the overall flow and shape of the biblical story.
  • learn how to think about everyday life issues with a more integrated and biblically-grounded worldview.

Heart (Affective) – After completing this course you will…

  • grow in empathy for people who think differently.
  • learn to value voices/research sources they disagree with.
  • appreciate the importance of dialogue in critical thinking, and how it increases both compassion and humility.

Hands (Conative) – After completing this course you will…

  • practice using critical thinking skills to engage a perspective they find hard to agree with.
  • read and interact with the source material they normally wouldn’t consider valuable.
  • engage in discussion with someone from a different worldview.

Course Ingredients

The course consists of 5 lessons

Up to 5 hours of video content

Interaction with several learning activities/quizzes

Requires completion of 3 assignments (for credentialing with ACOP or for the sake of Eston College’s future accreditation of online learning)
