I really like reading about newsletter writing and different processes behind it. I was challenged by the author of the book saying to not use generalities, because I am very guilty of this for sure! I am excited by how both the video and the book encouraged newsletter writers to be creative. Jaylen and I have some fun ideas for newsletters and so I am excited to see how those ideas pan out! I am not sure how I feel about the author in the book saying that you shouldn’t say in your newsletter to pray about finances. I think it is important for your writers to read about how you are financially doing and to be praying about it. It is a practical thing for people to pray about and is also a way that people can feel involved in your life. That’s just my opinion regarding that topic.

I’ve done newsletters throughout my time at YWAM, so I have a bit of experience. I think in a general sense because of my age and also my interests, things like newsletters are very exciting for me. I love graphic design, so making up a Mailchimp newsletter is exciting. I love writing; stories, testimonies, things about God, etc. I love taking pictures and telling stories with pictures. Many of my interests collaborate in a newsletter, so I’m pretty confident in doing them well. I do not foresee them as being a burden while overseas, but rather a highlight in our routine.
I actually hope to make little “vlogs” that showcase our time, including video dairies of testimonies and things that were processed that week. I believe this is a powerful way to share things with your support team, and I’m stoked to get to do it.
