I think all of these are important in this goal; however, at this stage I think that engaging and deploying the next generation would be at the top of my list. We need those young leaders to be able to support our goal of multiplication, to expand to new places globally, and likely, a new generation will bring in a level of vitality with them. Additionally, I think with programs like EPIC and some of the leadership already in the ACOP we have a good launching point for that leadership development, but I think we still could grow in our reach to the next generation.

I think they are all very important, but I would have to say that Leadership Development is the most important. I believe that all of the other strategic initiatives would suffer and be less effective without high quality leaders directing them.

I believe these all go together and each have a different way to help develop and release effective leaders and create healthy churches. Personally, if I had to choose one, I would choose Next Gen Ministries. I’ve been part of a Next Gen Team for almost 15 years now and I’ve seen first hand how when we walk beside our youth and help them to develop their faith, that faith becomes stronger. When we give them opportunities that they may not get elsewhere, things like service opportunities, leadership opportunities, they become empowered and bolder in what they want to do. That is what we want in effective leaders…Bold and empowered people who are willing to dream big.
