One reason why defining the relationship through credentialing is important is because it gives the credential holder credibility in his/her community. The credential holder has the ACOP stamp of approva. It proves the credential holder’s commitment to not only the ACOP but to the church or ministry with which they are working. Having a defined relationship also sets up proper boundaries.
The benefits of being credentialled with ACOP, other than the fee being tax deductible, are being part of a Spirit-filled, Spirit-led fellowship of believers who will help, encourage, hold you accountable, pray with you and support you as you walk out God’s calling. Its knowing you are not walking alone.

Defining the relationship through credentialing is a helpful process as it provides clarity as to expectations, boundaries around responsibilities, and provides a clear pathway to find the help and resources you might need through defined relational channels. One of the additional benefits of credentials with the ACOP, above and beyond the defining of the relationship, would be the providing of credibility as a minister, having been examined and endorsed by a credible body of believers with a defined processes. The accountability that flows from the involvement and relationship with this body and its processes helps keep both minsters and those ministered to safe, but also provides a context for growth and for a depth of relationship that is not only vital to effective ministry but being healthy children of God.

The answers to both questions go hand-in-hand. Credentialling is defining the relationship between those who work with/for the ACOP, so that there is no awkwardness or confusion about what the connotation or expectations are behind what this relationship is. Furthermore, the gain the bonus of having that clear understanding between you and your fellowship, and this gives them opportunities to protect and support you in the best way possible.

Defining a relationship is very important to ensure people know their responsibilities and can be held accountable. It also takes away any awkwardness that may come from blurred relationship lines. The benefits of being credentialed are knowing you belong in a group, and having the support of other credentialed members. Becoming credentialed also highlights the relationship between a person and ACOP which is very beneficial for both parties.
