I remember clearly being baptized in the Holy Spirit when I was around 12 years old. It happened at the church where my Dad was pastoring during a youth retreat. The youth leaders explained it to me scripturally, encouraged me and then laid hands on me and prayed. I began speaking in tongues that night and it has been a big part of my life ever since!

I was at a conference at CFG for young people who wanted to step out in their faith more. I was prayed for by the minister and I began to speak in tongues. The Holy Spirit fell so strongly on me I could not focus on anyone or anything else. I stayed at the altar for a long time speaking in tongues and waiting in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

When I was baptized in the Holy Spirit I didn’t think anything of it. I was 14 years old and had been a baptized believer for 3 years at my own choice. It was just a seemingly regular Sunday morning, nothing special that I remember from the sermon, but it had a huge impact on me. While my mom was getting ready to leave I felt led to stay sitting in the pew. My mom hassled me for a second and then I think God told her I needed to stay so she was all the sudden ok with it. I went up to the front of the church and stayed there for a few minutes and I suddenly felt an overwhelming emotion come over me. I started crying and felt relief. all of the sudden I started groaning and noises started coming out of my mouth, and I had no idea what was going on. one of the older pastors in the church came over and explained to me the baptism of the spirit, a concept I had surprisingly never heard of even though I was attending an ACOP church my whole life. I understood tongues was a spiritual gift but I didn’t know about it being for all believers. Up until that point I had only heard tongues in the context of heavenly or earthly language out loud in a congregation with an interpretation following it. my pastor explained to me that it was a sign for every believer and Jesus wanted to impact me in a new way. I continued speaking in tongues after that and stopped holding back the words Holy Spirit was giving me. I stayed there for probably an hour longer speaking in tongues and praising God for his love for me.
