The addition stratgey is extremely limiting as if the maker of the disciples leaves or passes, the disciples are left floundering and there will be no new people being discipled. The multiplication strategy is the more biblical principle as we are all called to make disciples (that includes the people that we make disciples). This strategy has the potential for exponential growth, meaning that there are significantly more people getting to know Jesus, which is what this is all for.

Multiflication strategy is the ideal and applaud the early missionaries of one way ticket; what a faith and commitment. Glory be to God.

The difference between the addition strategy and the multiplication strategy is that the addition strategy focuses on a slower method of adding people one at a time, whereas the multiplication strategy focuses on discipling people to disciple others around them. The multiplication strategy is preferred because it enables more people to hear about the gospel. Rather then just focusing on the salvation of one person, it enables others to share the gospel and the gospel can get spread more.

The addition strategy is not necessarily a bad thing, it is always good to see someone come into the kingdom, but it is not sustainable. The greater vision of the “multiplication” strategy is that one disciple would train people who would disciple other people, and each of those people would in turn train/disciple other people… and so forth. This way the spread of the gospel goes far beyond what 1 individual can do, but rather the spread of the good news exceeds into the hundreds, thousands, and ten thousands.
