A movement is defined as "a group of people with shared purpose and values who create change together." Movements provide resources, invest in people, provide opportunities for networking, have shared goals, and creates an 'esprit de corps'. Is ACOP a movement? If not, what needs to change in order for it to become a movement? Reflect in a paragraph.

I would say that ACOP is a movement. It might not always look like a new dramatic movement with a burst of excitement and energy surrounding it. But I would say that it has become a movement with deeper roots. It is steadily moving forward and catching people into the excitement of journeying with Jesus and sharing that with others! I have seen a generation of youth starting at Jr. High Encounter in 2022 become excited about God moving and seeing healings and experiencing the Holy Spirit move and come on fire for the Gospel! I have seen them continue to grow into Sr. Youth and continue that fire and passion!!

I think the ACOP was birthed out of a movement, and aspires to continue to be a movement. However, I am convinced that only God can start a movement, and thus the ACOP’s future is largely dependent on walking in extraordinary prayer and obedience to God’s will. The distinctives and shared values of ACOP are significant, and definitely needed in the Canadian church, but in order to be a movement we must be surrendered to the will of God and allow Him to produce fruit in our lives.

The ACOP exhibits characteristics of a movement, such as shared purpose and values, networking opportunities, and a sense of community. However, to fully embody a movement, the ACOP might need to focus on creating widespread change together, investing in people, and fostering a stronger sense of collective momentum. By emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and shared goals, the ACOP can cultivate a movement-like spirit, empowering its members to drive meaningful impact and transformation.

I think I would define the ACOP (and the little time I have spent as part of it so far) as a movement, if that were to be defined as “a group of people with shared purpose and values who create change together.” It is clear that there are shared values and purpose, and the thrust to extend grace and ignite hope clearly qualify as an effort with tangible fruit towards creating change together. This course itself is proof of providing resources, my engagement with the Regional Director has certainly qualified as investing in people, and at the Christmas event for the Region in Regina, I certainly experienced networking opportunities, shared goals, and the fostering of an esprit de corps. As I have experienced, momentum is a key factor when considering movements, something I pray that is experienced as each of these elements grows, expands, and deepens in the ACOP.
