If you’ve spent any amount of time in the church, you’ve probably heard theories about what heaven will be like; streets of gold, big, personalized mansions, a floating city somewhere in space, etc. Was this a big issue in your background? Did this vision of heaven affect your desire to pursue Jesus and spread the Gospel?

Nik introduces the idea that heaven is not a far-off place, but God will actually come down and dwell with us here, in His redeemed creation. How does the Consummation of God’s Kingdom change your perspective on what it means to prepare for life after death?

    Answer in a paragraph format.

I’ve always walked around with the idea, that I will never truly understand what heaven is like or looks like. I have heard all of those theories before; streets of gold, personalized mansions, etc. But I have always marveled about how I’ll never truly understand heaven until I get there. My love for God has always come from a place of seeing his goodness and love and overall wanting that relationship. But I can’t say that when I just go through ‘the motions’ the idea of going to heaven doesn’t motivate me to pursue Jesus more and spread the gospel.

I don’t think there is such thing as preparing for life after death. I believe God shows us things he wants us to see, when we are ready to accept it, but there is still so much mystery. To me this idea of heaven-not being a far off place and God coming down here does not change my perspective. It’s amazing. But my mission here will always be the same; love God and love people. Life after death is only the beginning, I know that. But the goal is to get as many people there as possible.
