I am thankful that the Holy Spirit works through us as we declare healing. Praying with authority to deal with a sickness and the power given us to heal is something I have done in the past without the knowledge or understanding of what authority I had. I prayed for a young boy declaring healing for him as I understood it to be the power of the Holy Spirit that gave me the words to declare, and my belief that God heals. The boy was healed. Today after this lesson I know have a better understanding, and that doubts that may enter my head I will now be able to bring captive , cast away and continue to grow in the faith to heal.

Yes I recognize the difference between authority and power. Authority is permission to do something from God (Luke 10:19, Ephesians 1;18-22). Power is the ability to actually accomplish it. Today I prayed for a friend who had a cramp in her leg. I knew I had authority to lay hands on her, and I asked God to take the pain away, in the name of Jesus. I now realize from watching the video tonight, I could have commanded the pain to go away in the name of Jesus. She had to leave, but she was no longer limping. I'm thankful to God.

We need both authority and power, as in using the gift of healing, so we truly know we have executive authority by God to move out to heal others, and we need the power (by relying on the Holy Spirit) to activate the healing itself.
