I can be a better listener today by putting aside my own agenda when I need to listen. So many times, I find myself thinking about what my next task is regarding my kids, the bills, ministry goals, while listening to someone or listening to a video, listening to a sermon or even reading the Word.
I can put aside everything to absorb the gift before me, like someone’s time, appreciate and learn from a heart prepared sermon or lesson and rest in the trust that God has my day and everything in it prepared.

I can become a better listener through patience. I have so often interrupted a speaker due to my own selfish attitude and impatience to wait for another to be finished their though. This has caused conflict and broken relationship in my background. As the Word and Holy Spirit have worked security and healing in my own heart on who I am in Christ, I have discovered a joy in waiting for another person to be done. In this waiting, I have been amazed at what I used to miss in the conversation.
