For me, it was a very mature decision, a proof that we can look past the differences they have for the sake of the furtherance of the kingdom of God and the sharing of the gospel to all nations. To agree to disagree and still partner in the ministry is a very unique and admirable thing to witness!

When it is possible, if we can walk in peace and unity with other believers it is of the utmost importance. It takes humility and great love to walk in unity amidst doctrinal differences. It doesn’t mean we need to be weak in our convictions but it does mean we need to be strong in our love. I believe it can be done!

It’s interesting to me that Franklin Small had one overall church in mind when founding Apostolic CHURCH of Pentecost, whereas as Evangelical CHURCHES of Pentecost is a fellowship, and more aligned with how we operate today. In the end, Small changed his mind and decided that unity and community are more important then doctrinal issues that don’t pertain to salvation.
