When I think about the work God has done through Franklin Small, Christ Followers I look up to, and even myself; I can’t help but think about the verse in Jeremiah 1:5.
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." NIV
It will never stop amazing me, that God has given everyone the same purpose on earth but special gifts to achieve that purpose differently. He knew us before he formed us in our mothers womb, like how amazing is that? And he set us apart before we were even born. What a blessing!
I’ve been very fortunate to have witnessed the works of God as early as birth and its so incredible to see how everything I’ve been through in my life, has set me up to be where I am now & I know this is just the beginning. Which is exactly what Philippians 1:6 states; “…He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Small’s life, belief system, and doctrine aren’t perfect just as anyone of us, but God has used him mightily in many different ways. Small’s belief about certain things may not be as welcoming as ours today, but God met him at the level of his faith, and used him to start something that we all now have enjoyed, benefitted from, and developed. In the same way, I believe that God can use me and my story for His own purpose and glory, for He who began a good work in all of us will be faithful in completing whatever it is.

I am inspired that Frank Small’s steadfastness took place in spite of criticism he faced. Perhaps some of the criticisms were justified, but he pressed onward with his convictions. At the end of his life, one could argue about some of his beliefs, but his compassion for souls and consistency could not be argued against. This is what I wish to apply in my life on some level.

The kindness of the Lord amazes me! He has been so good to me and gentle in His leading, patiently guiding me. As I look back I begin to see that He has been working the difficult and hard things together for my good and equipping me through each season. Building capacity, pruning and growing me. This encourages me that He is not done!
