How can you, like Jesus, extend compassion, forgiveness, and fellowship:

    1. To the leper: with a heart of compassion toward the suffering and the outcast?
    2. To the paralytic: with a heart of forgiveness and healing, to the broken & sinful?
    3. To Levi: with a heart of mercy and fellowship towards sinners?

As Christ followers, I believe we are called to imitate Christ.

When I think of how to imitate Christ, I often think of Mark 12:30-31. Where Jesus left us with two commandments to ‘love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself. ‘ All throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus doing the complete opposite of what everyone expected, spending his time with the ‘outcasts’ & healing people no one else would associate with. Where in the flesh, we may approach those individuals with caution, disapproval, and pre-conceived judgment. Jesus approached those same people with compassion, forgiveness, and fellowship.

How I believe I can show compassion, forgiveness, and fellowship myself. Is showing empathy for things people go through that I don’t personally understand. By listening to circumstances and life experiences and internally praying over them. By talking about God’s grace and mercy when it comes to forgiveness and showing that same compassion. And taking the time with the “sinners” and showing God’s love through normal conversation.
