Have you spoken in tongues? Can you determine whether you received tongues for devotional or congregational use? How could you tell the difference?

If you do not speak in tongues, is this a gift you want to receive? If you do, how can you ask for this gift in your own context?

Reflect on these questions and respond in the discussion.

I have never spoken in tongues, but I want to. I'm nervous about it, but I certainly do want to. I have been asking during my regular prayers, but I am feeling more and more like perhaps I should be asking others to pray for me to do so as well, or even that I should be praying in a group alongside my church community.

I speak devotional tongue. And I've heard many times about the congregational tongues to encourage the body of Christ.

I have not spoken in tongues yet.

I sincerely want to receive this gift.

I will ask for this gift through prayers, and the Holy Spirit, the Giver of good gifts.

I have spoken in tongues. I know that some of the tongues I have are for personal edification. One time at Strasbourg Alliance Church I was praying in the back during an evening service and I felt some tongues come to me that I can’t remember. I am pretty sure it was an in the moment congregational kind of tongues. It was very cool.
