Respond to one of these prompts in a paragraph:

    1. What has your experience of trying to let go of your own agenda in prayer been like? (e.g. What is difficult about it? How do you feel? Have you found any scriptures that made this “letting go” easier?)
    2. What practical things have been helpful for your listening prayer times? (e.g. How and when do you set aside time? How do you keep from distractions? What is your physical posture? How do you spend the time?)
    3. If you have been feeling completely frustrated by the practice, write a complaint to God (much like a Psalm!) expressing your feelings about it.

Listening prayer has been a struggle for me at times. My mind will wonder or all of a sudden I think of something I need to do. I have found that having a piece of paper to write these thoughts down on as they pop in my head help me to let go of the thought for now and concentrate on prayer.

Daily Prayer time has been a part of my daily practice for a while. MY children are grown and have started their own families so quite time can happen when ever I choose. I tend to choose in the morning when my mind and soul are rested. My thoughts can be easily distracted by the business of life so early is better. I also journal and keep record of Gods responses to me. He generally speaks to me through the word and He tends to confirm through other Christians.

@Martyv thanks for sharing. It sounds like your spiritual disciplines regarding listening prayer and your interaction with Scripture have a solid rhythm. Glad to hear this.
