    Answer in a paragraph:

If you are comfortable sharing, what type of crucible events have you had in your life?

Even if you don’t want to share what the event was, please share about how these events have formed you?

The kind of crucible I experienced in my life was definitely started at a Bible Camp when I was younger. The leaders encouraged us to let God into our hearts by the activities, devos and worship. I found it so amazing how god can work with us and that he has never left us alone. I still find it hard sometimes because I want that picture perfect family. I’ve notice my church family is where love is at when were learning about Jesus.

I have noticed that if my parents didn’t divorce I wouldn’t have I close relationship with god or be as close as I am now.

It’s interesting how you describe both positive “crucibles” and a negative one (the divorce). It is the sign of a maturing believer that you can see God’s hand in everything.

How have these events formed you?

Having travelled the road of healing together with my daughter, one thing became abundantly clear, I didn’t know how to trust even God. As He revealed this to me He has and continues to help me learn how to trust, especially with Him. As for my daughter choosing the LGBTQ lifestyle, a choice that my wife and I made was to love her above all other things that could possibly be a dividing point. Even though this isn’t the lifestyle that we ever envisioned for her God continues to give us the grace to love our daughter no matter what. If she never “came out” I don’t believe that I would have had the compassion and love to embrace this community as we have. In fact, at the last pride parade in town here a couple of weeks ago, our daughter invited us to join her. As I prayed about it, I sensed God imprinting upon my heart His love for the LGBTQ orphans. The orphans are those due to religious differences have been rejected by their parents. So to counter this, my wife and I accepted her invitation and we both wore “Free Dad and Free Mom Hugs” t-shirts. Many people took us up on our offer and many were in tears as we were able to extend the unconditional love of the Father to these precious people.

I have allot of these moments but through it all God is growing me to more maturity and refining the negative qualities out – so I can trust him more. But my life is a testimony for others that God loves like a good good father and with that love growth comes. Truth in Love

The crucible events in my life (e.g. painful family situations; juggling work/study; a shocking betrayal by a pastor that shook up a church I was serving at; immigrating to a new country and adopting to a new language/culture) have shaped me to rely completely on the LORD as my shield, defender, protector, and provider. It has also given me deep compassion and empathy for the suffering of others.
