As you look at the various ways that God was at work, engaging with Franklin Small throughout his life, what does it make you think about the ways God has been at work throughout your life? Where do you see the fingerprints of God in the past events of your life? If God has been at work in you, what does this suggest about what he will do through you? Consider Philippians 1:6, and respond in a paragraph.

That Franklin Small was a man who was guided by the Holy Spirit and revival followed as he obeys the word of the Lord

That’s true Curtis, but how about in your life? How do you see God working in the past events of your life?

Through the storms of life he has molded me to carry the ‘hope’ of walking with Christ. And when I lay down my burdens and rest with him – I grow and learn so I can carry that hope to the next generation.

Franklin Small was focused on Jesus, and in spite of his strong opinions God used him mightily. For me, I firstly want to stay focused on the heart of God. I can easily become sidelined on issues that are important to me, and I don’t want to centre my faith on a secondary issue. But, if/when I fail in this, I love that God still used Franklin to impact so many. Holy Spirit works in us and through us, in spite of us! Lord- help me stay focused on Jesus first! Secondly I’m impacted by the reminder that everything starts with seeking Jesus through prayer. I realize that we should always know this, but sometimes I can start praying to seek a result. We don’t pray in order to get a revival. We pray to get more of Jesus, and revival just happened. I need to pray to seek more of Jesus, and leave the results to Him.

@Jenn thanks for such a great answer that inspires faith and encourages us to move forward.

It reminds me of this quote: “To know the limbs and leaps of history is hardly worth a cent….The only thing which counts is that you become more certain of your God as you contemplate the past, and that you then show more courage in face of present needs!” Zwingli

The kindness of the Lord amazes me! He has been so good to me and gentle in His leading, patiently guiding me. As I look back I begin to see that He has been working the difficult and hard things together for my good and equipping me through each season. Building capacity, pruning and growing me. This encourages me that He is not done!

@smythc1 wonderful! It is neat to see how God uses the testimony from others to inspire us today. Thanks for sharing.
